The FOX20 2012 Ugliest Kitchen Contest begins at 12:01 a.m. Central Time ("C.T.") on 4/24/12 and ends at 11:59 p.m., C.T. on 6/3/12. Entries must be received by 11:59 pm, C.T. on 6/3/12. Sponsor WCOV FOX 20, Montgomery Alabama.
Entries accepted only online at www.wcov.com/ugliestkitchencontest by submitting a completed online entry form and photo of the kitchen being considered for the Ugliest Kitchen Contest. There is no cost to register or enter. The entry must include the physical address of the contestant’s kitchen to be remodeled. A postal address, not a post office box, must be included with an entry. For prize fulfillment purposes, a potential winning entry having only a post office box address will be disqualified. The contestant must be the owner of the property and not a tenant or have the property owner’s expressed permission to enter the contest.
Photos must be submitted by an adult 21 years or older. Only one photo per entry per kitchen will be accepted. Complete the entry form, attach the photo, complete any other required fields and then submit your entry by clicking on the “SUBMIT” button. By entering, you agree to the terms of these Official Rules. All photos become the property of FOX20 and absolutely no photos will be returned. Copyrighted photos must be accompanied by photographer’s release. FOX20 reserves the rights to refuse any photograph it determines to be unacceptable. FOX20 reserves the right to disqualify any entries by persons determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the contest. One entry submission per kitchen; one entry submission per email address. Odds of winning will depend on the number of eligible entries received.
LIMIT: One entry per household with a valid email address. No group entries. Any attempt to obtain more than the stated number of entries by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations, logins, or any other methods may result in disqualification by Sponsor, in its sole discretion.
ELIGIBILITY: Legal residents of the Montgomery-Selma metropolitan survey area, 21 years of age or older are eligible to enter, except employees of Sponsor, and any other organizations or companies affiliated with the sponsorship, fulfillment, administration, prize support, advertisement or promotion of the Sweepstakes and/or their respective agents, affiliates, subsidiaries and members of their immediate families or household members. "Immediate family members" shall mean parents, step-parents, children, step-children, siblings, step-siblings, or spouses. "Household members" shall mean people who share the same residence at least three months a year.
WINNER SELECTION AND PRIZING: Beginning on or around 6/4/12, Sponsor will conduct a review of all entries ( photos ) received. One (1) winner will receive the grand prize. Sponsors will determine all elements of prizing in its sole discretion. Prize may not be assigned, transferred, changed or redeemed for cash, except at Sponsor's sole discretion. Prize is awarded "as is" with no warranty or guarantee express or implied by Sponsor. Sponsor disclaims all and any liability for the actual provision, quality or nature of any third-party product or service accepted by the winner. The awarding of any prize is contingent upon full compliance with these Official Rules. Entrants agree to be bound by Official Rules and agree that if winner fails to provide proof of identity, refuses to provide required documentation, is found to have violated Official Rules, or otherwise does not meet eligibility criteria, prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner by the same method of selection. Entrants understand that Sponsor and service providers are not liable for injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising from participation in this promotion and acceptance, possession, and use of prize. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the sweepstakes or in the announcement of the prize. Decisions of Sponsor are final and binding in all respects.ODDS of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received.
This is a non-transferable package and has no cash value. Taxes are the responsibility of the winning party.
The kitchen makeover does not include moving any walls. If the remodeling process begins and there are problems with mold, rot, termites, and any and all building deficiancies and or current building code violations or sub standard or structural or electrical building problems, etc. the process stops until the homeowner, at their own expense, makes necessary repairs.
The winner will be chosen based upon the following objective criteria soley by WCOV FOX 20 and the associated sponsors and third party providers. The ugliest kitchen will be chosen based upon the ability of sponsors to provide a complete and total makeover within the limitations stated and the ability to make the most significant, complete and noticeable improvement to the existing home. Any additional services beyond retail value will be at homeowners expense. Homeowner must remove all unattached personal items from the winners kitchen. The top three finalists as chosen by FOX20 and third party providers must be available for a site visit between June 4th and June 17th. Time to be determined. Winner must be available for live TV appearance.
Winner, by acceptance of the prize, agrees to release all Sponsors, and their parent and subsidiary companies, their officers, directors, employees, agents, shareholders, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, and advertising agencies from all liability, claims, or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, or use of the prize. Winners will refrain from any and all critisism of prize or installation of and the process involved in the awarding of the prize.
WCOV FOX20 and UPICKEM are not responsible for Internet crashes or slowdowns caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, electrical outages, natural disasters or acts of man or God.
First Prize: Total prize valued at $20,000 as follows:
By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees to all the terms and conditions of these rules; agrees to be bound by these rules and the decisions of the Contest judges; and consent to the use of his/her name, likeness and other information for publicity purposes. Each winner accepting a prize and each guest traveling with and/or accompanying the winner consent to the use of his/her name and/or likeness for advertising, trade and promotional purposes without further compensation, except where prohibited by law. Each entrant waives the right to assert, as a cost of winning any prize, any and all costs of verification and redemption or travel to redeem a prize and any liability that might arise from redeeming or seeking to redeem a prize. Winner is responsible for taxes, building permits and title fees and will complete necessary tax documentation (W-9) before price is awarded. Each entrant releases each of the following from any and all liability with respect to or arising out of the acceptance, use, misuse or possession of any prize and/or the loss or misdirection of any prize:
Sponsors are not responsible for any problems/failures related to any contestant’s lost, stolen or misdirected entry. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
The “Grand Prize” package has an estimated value of $20,000.00 manufacturers’ suggested retail price for the following items:
construction management by Lisenby Construction including complete removal & haul away of existing kitchen including cabinetry and backslpash, Complete design by Nancy Young, Cabinets constructed or refaced, supplied and installed by Varner Cabinets including(boxes, doors, drawers and hinges) maximum $6000 value. New granite counter tops maximum $4000 value , suppllied and installed by S&B Stoneworks. Includes new stainless steel under mount sink and backsplash. Minor sheetrock included on an as needed basis, Flooring from Gardner Carpets valued at $2000. Lighting from In-Line Lighting valued at $1000. Appliances from Cohens valued at $2500. Paint and Painting by John Lee Paints and Painting by Tommy Glass.
One year limited warranty on all materials and workmanship. Selection of the aforementioned items is to be ultimately determined by FOX20 with input by designer and other sponsors and is subject to availability. The makeover of the house will commence at the discretion of Sponsors with consultation with Homeowner. Homeowner is responsible for obtaining all permits including any special permits as needed by county. Homeowner is also responsible for testing for or removal of asbestos, lead paint or any other hazardous material and any taxes that may be assessed by county ordinance.

You must be 21 years of age or older at time of entry to be eligible for this contest. This contest is void where prohibited by law.
Winners will be notified by phone. If a winner is unreachable after seven (7) days, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected. If WCOV-TV cannot find an eligible winner for the prize, that prize will not be awarded.
Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
Only one registered account per voter. If multiple accounts are detected for a single voter, they will be disabled and votes disqualified.
WCOV-TV reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value.
WCOV-TV reserves the right to restrict the local winners to only persons whose primary residence is within a 60 mile radius of the affiliate's' office.
Employees of WCOV-TV, its respective parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising sponsors and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible.
Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest commissioners, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.
Entrants further grant to WCOV-TV the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest.
WCOV-TV reserves the right to use any and all information related to the Contest, including information on contestants obtained through the contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.

This contest is not intended for gambling. If it is determined that a contestant is using the contest for gambling purposes they will be disqualified and reported to authorities.
